MrsMactivity Review: Is this site for you?

MrsMactivity Review: The Best Bargain Resource Site in 2019.

If money was no object, we could always have the best, most colorful resources in the market, but if you seek the freebies on sites like Teacher’s Pay Teachers, you often end up with resources that aren’t exactly what you need and you end up spending more time adapting them to fit your class.

The trick is to find the best possible resources at the best possible price to save you spending hours behind the computer making resources to enhance the learning of your children. Having received for review the membership to Mrs Mactivity site, I think they have hit the nail on the head with creating multi-sensory resources at a reasonable price to make lessons more creative and teacher’s lives easier.

In the next few sections, I’m going to take you through my experiences with the website. I’ll let you know if it’s something you should consider purchasing. The MrsMactivity crew have offered my followers 10% off if you sign up and enter the code REBECCA at checkout.

MrsMactivity overview

First things first:

What is different about this site?

We make adorable and creative learning resources suitable for both parents and teachers – made by teachers, tested by kids. We specialise in truly innovative learning resources that you won’t find anywhere else on the web. We believe that less is more, and you won’t need to spend hours trawling through our website to find what you need – we believe that people want quality resources over quantity. We believe that too many classrooms look the same, and we believe in innovation and individuality – stand out from the crowd by supporting our work.

I genuinely think that their ‘about’ page sells the aim of the site. I used to hate feeling like my classroom was the same as the classroom next door! A classroom should be fun, creative and purposeful for the children that fill it! The display packs alone are different from any resources I’ve seen online and that draws me in!

All you need is a decent wall stapler, some backing paper to write on (to make it as child-friendly as possible) and you’re good to go! This way the children can write on the display boards with ease and interact with them.

My first impressions of the MrsMactivity site

The MrsMactivity website makes a great impression from the get-go.

My first thought?

Upon signing in for the first time, I found the sheer colour and professional, quality resources evident from first glance. The site is incredibly easy to navigate, with drop-down menus that direct you to the subject/area you wish to look through. As well as that, the resources also come with an ink friendly option, which is always great to see considering how costly ink can be.

This is a well-designed and well-thought out website, put together by teachers, who want to enrich teacher’s lessons and save them time!

As a Literacy obsessed teacher, my first instinct was to select the ‘Guided Reading’ drop-down menu for a glance. I immediately downloaded the ‘Year 2 Challenge Cards’ to see if I could use them during English lessons.

I have used them this week with great success to consolidate children’s learning with their home reader. We use the Oxford Reading Tree books as children’s home readers. They enjoyed explaining who was their favourite character and why. I plan on choosing another challenge card next Wednesday for children to engage with. If creative, yet challenging resources are what you’re after, then this site is for you!

Teachers want resources that are fit for purpose and as described. There’s nothing worse than downloading a resource and having to edit it for 30 mins before it suits your lesson. MrsMactivity’s site satisfies this requirement, as the descriptions for each resource are well explained.

How I plan to use this site to enrich my lessons

I have taken quite an interest in the Maths activity pack. For Maths especially, children generally need some form of resource, be it a ruler, clock or number line. This pack has it all and by providing each child with a maths pack, I hope to give the children ownership of their learning and encourage them to use these resources daily. (I’m a big believer in using resources in Maths to support understanding).

Generally, I spend so much time planning and resourcing lessons in my class, I always leave themed days on the long finger. However, I love how this site has ‘print and use’ style activities that aren’t just a quick fix, but a creative activity that has been thought through thoroughly at the click of a mouse. Days such as Father’s Day, ‘Valentine’s Day’ and ‘Pancake Tuesday’ are know sorted for this year- yay!

What I’d like to see on this site in the future

It’s very clear that each resource on this site has taken time, effort and has been checked to ensure it’s perfect. As a result, the site is still in the process of adding new resources. I look forward to seeing some more Guided Reading resources especially. I’m excited to be an ambassador for this site as I truly believe their creative approach and genuine care will make this site a raving success.
