FIFA World Cup 2022 Activities and Worksheets

Are you looking for resources to use during the FIFA World Cup 2022? I have you covered! Check out my FIFA World Cup 2022 Activity Pack, suitable for 1st Class-6th Class. There is a variety of activities and worksheets to use in your room. Plus they are no-prep; just print and teach!

Qatar World Cup 2022 Activities and Worksheets

Integrating the World Cup into your teaching can be difficult in all year groups as a result of an overloaded curriculum. I have created some simple worksheets and activities for our learners that will encourage them to use their imagination, apply their research skills and practice their writing skills!

As well as that, these activities are designed to be used as part of group/project work or as an individual task. Some of these activities can be used to compliment your teaching of other subjects such as: Maths, Literacy and even Gaeilge.

Students will learn about the country of Qatar and create designs to represent their understanding of the material covered. They can also use technology (either on their own, with adult support, or copied from the teacher) to engage in the research elements of these activities. Drawing, researching and creating are all skills that will be used with these resources and there’s bound to be something for each child to enjoy in this pack.

When I created these FIFA World Cup 2022 activities and worksheets, I made sure that there are lots of options. Some activities are easier and others require more skills. Some of the activities included are –

1.) Design your own jersey, boots and skyscraper activity.

2.) Research facts about the different countries involved in the Qatar World Cup 2022 and present them creatively.

3.) Get to know each flag in each group for the World Cup. These can be used to create a display/bulletin board.

4.) Informative colouring pages for our littler learners. They can learn all about the country of Qatar, the home of the World Cup 2022.

5.) Learn the country names, vocab and engage in activities as Gaeilge to ensure you’re still getting your Irish lessons covered, during the World Cup madness.

6.) Use your knowledge of measure to convert the distances between the football stadiums in Qatar. This would suit our older learners best. A fun way to incorporate Maths into the World Cup frenzy!

7.) Engage with the Qatari National Anthem and create your own based off what you’ve learned. A nice Music lesson to incorporate here.

You can pick the activities or tasks that suits your students best. Meet their needs and interests with this wide range of activities.

How to integrate the World Cup 2022 into your daily lessons

Using themes to plan your lessons is a great way to motivate your pupils. There will be a huge interest from many students this year in the Qatar World Cup, so why not use this to our advantage?

Think about what units you’re covering and plan how to incorporate that into the theme. For example, if covering Report Writing, use the World Cup as your stimulus for children to write their reports on.

To further this example, see this report writing unit? This was based around the theme of ‘Birds of Ireland’. This same content could be adapted to report on the football World Cup.

Making small adjustments to our long term plans can mean we still cover the same objectives, but just change the stimulus or topic to thrive off this World Cup frenzy that’s imminent.

To see a post on teaching a persuasive unit, see this post.

Remember, when planning thematically, not every subject needs to link to the theme. It shouldn’t be tonnes of extra work for the teacher either. Put the learning back on the pupils and ask them to create questions linked to the World Cup, in the subject your covering, for a peer to solve.

Ask them to research different ways we could bring the World Cup into our daily lessons. They will surprise you!

The World Cup as early finisher tasks

This one is probably this easiest one to manage. To feed into the student’s interests, early finisher tasks for the next few weeks could be World Cup themed. This way, they have an incentive to finish their class work and may even wish to complete these activities as group work or homework either.

I’m all about minimising teacher workload, so if this sounds like an easy way to maximise their interests, go for it! Print, complete, showcase, repeat.

FREE Resource

As always, the engagement seen in the classroom when following the children’s interests is second to none. I’d love to hear what suggestions your class come up with!

I hope you’ve enjoyed checking out my resources and activities for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

  1. […] Rebecca the Irish Teacher has a fantastic list of different activities your students can do. One of the easiest activities they can do is get to know each flag from the different groups. This will help your students to learn about the different countries in the world and also where they are located on the map. Plus if you have a student that has family in that country, they can explain what it is like and the cultures they have. It would be a great way for the students to connect.  […]
