What it does?

Dabbledoomusic cleverly plans and resources Music lessons, according to the different strand units in the Primary Curriculum. (Something I knew nothing about).

Each lesson is a clear progression from the last and allows you to teach children different music skills with and without a musical instrument. Even the least musical can use this site to enrich their Music lessons as it pretty much does everything for you!

The plans provided are detailed, easy to follow and allow you to teach Music lessons without any stress. What I love about this site is that I know my children are now meeting the curriculum objectives without me even realizing. Whereas before hand, I would have been stressed out, trying to think of ways to teach a particular objective.

I don’t know about you, but teaching Music was skimmed over during my teacher training. In my PGCE year, 4 hours were allocated to learning how to teach Music. Yes, 4! For teachers in the same boat as me, I cannot recommend you try Dabbledoomusic enough. In each lesson unit, there are short prompts for the teacher too. This makes the site user friendly and also gives you back time that you would have spent on planning Music before. Supports you in teaching an instrument

The thoughts of getting out the musical instruments in class used to give me such stress! It’s now something I look forward to massively in class as I feel I have the tools I need to teach it correctly. Attending the Dabbledoomusic workshop last week, gave me such great ideas of how to keep children in time with the beats and also how to teach them different sounds etc. Click the link below to see a snippet of the workshop.

Dabbledoomusic Workshop

The class is generally split into four groups: blue, red, green and yellow. The children can play along to the different songs on the site, when their colour is shown.

For instance, the yellow group had triangles in my class during this lesson. So like karaoke, once the white segment passes over the yellow, the children would tap the triangles twice. (I do a quick demo of this in the YouTube video if you’d like to take a closer look.

The children enjoy using the instruments so much and I now so do I as I have it more under control with the use of this site.

To sum up
